Leo Ivan Broadhead departed this life on the 15th day of June, 2006, at the age of 85 years. He was born on February 21, 1921, in Gunnison, Utah. He served in World War II, Korean War, and in Vietnam as a pilot, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force. Following his military career, he became a homebuilder in Oklahoma City and maintained his love of flying by being a private pilot for many dignitaries and celebrities. He was preceded in death by his son, Air Force Capt. Larry I. Broadhead and his brother Max Broadhead. Leo was noted for his tireless effort in behalf of Vietnam Veterans to secure a place on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall for those veterans who died stationed in Vietnam but outside the theater of conflict. Besides his love for flying, his greatest love was that for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Madonna Broadhead, three daughters, Connie Berg of Georgetown, Texas; Ellen Randall and husband Tom Randall of Ruidoso, New Mexico; and Sheila Selph and husband Kurt Selph of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Virginia Nelson, of Lawrence, Utah; 11 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, 5 great granddaughters, and multiple nieces and nephews. Services will be held on June 20, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 12020 N. Mustang Road, Yukon, Oklahoma, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery following the services. The family will greet family and friends at a viewing at the funeral home on Monday, June 19th, from 7 to 9 p.m. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
