Early Life: Robert "Bob" was born July 21, 1931, in Mapleton, Utah, to Ernest and Teresa Evans Burgi. He grew up in Provo and later moved to Orem, where he has spent most of his life.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1949, Robert began active service in the United States Army and served extensively in the Korean conflict. While there, he was promoted multiple times, up to the level of Master Sergeant. For his service he was awarded: The Korean Presidential Citation, Korean Service Metal with three Bronze Campaign Stars, and Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. On December 19, 1952, Robert married Beverly Walker in Elko, Nevada; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many functions such as high councilor, bishop, branch president at the Provo MTC, stake presidency, and Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple ordinance worker. Robert and Beverly served a mission in Sydney Australia from 1996 to 1997. He enjoyed golfing with friends, fly fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert George "Bob" Burgi, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Orem, Utah. He was 83.
