Newton Gill, 69, of Frankfort, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007.

Born Feb. 4, 1938 in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Newton and Ima Guynn Gill, and was the husband of Rebecca Martin Gill.

He was a retired diesel mechanic for Florida Tile.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: five daughters, Joyce Chapman and Faye Allen, both of Harrodsburg, Patricia Eaton of Philadelphia, TN, Elizabeth Talbee of Frankfort and Marilyn Harrod of Owenton; three sons, Newton "Chip" Gill Jr., Daryl S. Woolums and Eric B. Woolums, all of Frankfort; three sisters, Geneva Burge and Eula Jean Cocherman, both of Lexington, and Ruby Giltin of Parksville; three brothers, Wendell Gill of Lexington, Billy Gill of Versailles and Marshall Gill of Nicholasville; 22 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rose Hendren; one son, Donald Glenn Gill; one sister, Stella Mae Haddix, and one brother, Tommy Gill.

Services were held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at the Clark Funeral Home in Frankfort with the Rev. Mike Napier officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were James Harrod, Lloyd Lawson, Brad Gill, Eric and Daryle Woolums and Stephen Martin.

Honorary pallbearers were Michael Gill, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
