Born in Union, SC, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Clara Alexander Smith.
Mrs. Vanderford was a former employee of Anderson Hosiery Mill, Roses 10 Cent Store, and Laurens Shirt Plant.
She was a member of Lydia Church of God and as a ministers wife she shared and supported her husband as he pastored several churches.
She also was a member of the Ladies Bowling League at Palmetto Lanes.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Rev. J.B. Vanderford; her daughters, Sheila Calvert (Dale) and Darlene Sherfield (Tommy); her grandchildren, James Hurley, Janice Price (Dave), Tonya Marshall (Jeremy), Laman Hurley (Tina) and T.J. Sherfield (Dee); her great-grandchildren, Summer Avinger, Autumn Hurley, Emily Kellum, Madison Hurley, Tabbatha Bull, Lee Vanderford, D.J. Eaton, M.J. Gaffney, Harley Hurley, Kaitlin Hurley, Bella Hurley, Kamryn Hurley, Taylor Sherfield and Halie Cook; her great-great-grandchildren, Jaden Davis, Landon Davis, Kayde Vanderford, Kexin Eaton, Khloe Gaffney, Carson Cunningham; her step-grandchildren, Mitchell Frazier, Lisa Higginbotham (Kevin), John Epting (Petra) and Robin Epting; her step-great-grandchildren, John Epting, Sitara Epting, Leo Epting, and Aaliyah Cruz; her sister, Louise Callahan Guyton; her sister in laws, Eva Jo Crawford and Juanita Vanderford; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings; Maude Black and Dora Scoggins of Union, Pearl Hunt of NC, Sam Smith of Spartanburg, and David Smith of NC; and one grandbaby, Lacon Eaton.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Lydia Church of God with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
