"In June, the iris bloom and the robins sing." June Iris Herzog, 76, of Fargo, ND died Monday, December 3, 2007 at Bethany Homes under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
June Iris Robbins was born March 23, 1931 to Florence and William Robbins in Paynesville, MN.
June always had a love for music and was a self-taught, accomplished pianist at a very young age. For many years while raising her family she taught piano and organ lessons to hundreds of children and conducted various church choirs. June is a graduate of Valley City State University and Sherwood School of Music with degrees in music education.
June married Donald Herzog November 17, 1949 in Paynesville, MN. Don and June lived in various towns in North Dakota and raised their family primarily in Fingal and Enderlin, ND. When their children were grown they moved to Valley City, ND. Don died in 1994 and June moved to Fargo, ND in 2000.
She is survived by one sister, Zella Putzke of Annandale, MN; five children: Mary (Douglas) Geeslin of Hawley, MN, Laurel Davidson of Fargo, ND, David (Barb) Herzog of Key West, FL, Tana (Steven) Sly of Fargo, ND, and Dianne (Scott) Schmitz of Fargo, ND; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents, one brother and three sisters.
June is gone from our sight but will live forever in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of the Nativity, Fargo, ND.
