Mrs. Aubel entered the Home in February 1935. She was made a permanent member in Jan. 1936.
She was listed as a widow in the 1940 Federal Census, and 81 years of age.
In Memoriam: Mrs. Emma Aubel - Feb. 25, 1859 - Nov. 23, 1944. Our sweet Mrs. Aubel has left us. There have been few members of the Home so regarded with affection by our Family, our staff, and Board of Managers as was this gentle little old lady. Mrs. Aubel had had a happy married life and frequently imagined that her husband was here with her. They had two children, one dying in infancy, the other, a daughter, passed away after but a few months of married life. The deaths of both her husband and daughter coming about a year apart, was a shock from which she never recovered. For many months Mrs. Aubel's consciousness of the present has been clouded and she has been imagining herself living over her past, leading Sunday School, teaching, going to church or very busy with religious work of some kind nearly all the time. She passed away early morning - going "home" for Thanksgiving.
Dear little Mrs. Aubel passed away early Thanksgiving morning, and was buried in her own lot on Saturday. Her own pastor, Rev William Wagner, led the service. Mrs. Hess sang by request. Many beautiful flowers were sent in loving memory.
