NELLA CRAIN CORKERN, AGE 89

And a longtime resident of Metairie died at 6 pm Sunday May 10, 2015 at the St. Joseph Hospice. She was a native and former resident of Washington Parish. Nella retired from South Central Bell after a career as a switchboard operator and enjoyed tending to the chores around her house. She loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play sports and seeing the things they were involved in.

Survived by:

Daughter: Renae Black of Metairie

Son: John Wayne Crain of Stateline

2 Grandsons and Spouses: James M. Black, III and Dodie Black of Metairie, Roger W. Crain and Theresa Crain of Stateline

5 Great-grandchildren: Camille Black, Madeline Black, Brooke Galloway, Wesley Crain, Lylah Crain

3 Sisters: Mary Borde, Willene Adams, Wilda Bufkin all of Bogalusa

Brother: Shelton Crain of Covington

Also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husbands John Wes Crain and Percy A. Corkern, her parents Willis Crain and Lutie Knight Crain, 5 sisters Agnes Ard, Vertie Breland, Vera Kennedy, Ruth Kennedy, Pat Crain and 2 brothers Wilson Crain and Carl Ray Crain.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday May 13th from 10 am until the funeral service at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Brent King and Bro. Donnie Broome officiating.

Burial will follow in the Seal/Tullos Cemetery in Stateline.
