Mr. Thomas Jeptha "Jep" Bailey, 91, of E. Howell Street, Hartwell, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Brookside Assisted Living.
Born on February 26, 1924 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Thomas Jeptha Bailey Sr. and Lula Mae Chastain Bailey. Mr. Bailey was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was a former member of the Hartwell Lions Club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and department secretary. Mr. Bailey was a WW II U. S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife: Mary H. Bailey; two daughters: Adelyn B. Harris of Hartwell and Susan B. McCullough and her husband Carl of Woodstock GA; a sister: Marlene B. Jarrett and her husband Bill of Hartwell; three grandchildren: Jennifer Marrow and her husband Lance, Hank Harris and his wife Brandy and Carlyn Jackson and her husband Chad; eight great-grandchildren: McCain Marrow, McKenzie Marrow, Isabella Marrow, Hannah Harris, Hal Harris, McKenna Jackson, Caleb Jackson and Daniel Jackson.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law: Henry E. Harris and five sisters: Avree Kotal, Ostene Walters, Lee Wanek, Libby Sheriff and Colleen Mabry.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Bishop William Rucker officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service. The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643 or to the Hart County Humane Society, PO Box 1062, Hartwell GA 30643.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
