Walter Crockett 86, Dies A 25 year resident of Jackson County, Walter Roscoe Crockett, 86, 411 West Commerce, died Wednesday in Jackson County Hospital at Seymour following a 10 day illness. Crockett, who was born March 3, 1886 in Virginia to Harrison and Lettisha Ely Crockett, married the former Lucy Mae Burchett Feb. 21, 1926; she survives. Other survivors include three sons, Leslie Crockett of Seymour, Paul Crockett and Oscar Crockett, both of Brownstown; two step sons, James Burchett of Norman and Harold Burchett of Beam Station, Tenn., and a step daughter, Mrs. Fred Williams of Seymour. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Crockett and Bryant Crockett, both of Rose Hill, Va., 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Crockett was a member of the Woodman lodge and moved to Jackson County from Rose Hull Va., in 1947. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday by Rev. Delos Sharpton at the Clearspring Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Clearspring Cemetery. Persons may call anytime at the Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown.
