Wife of William H. Watters.
Mrs. W. H. Watters died very suddenly at the family home, in the west part of town, last Saturday evening of double pneumonia. She had been complaining for several days, but didnot call a physician as she supposed she had contracted nothing more than a bad cold and her condition was not considered serious. At seven o'clock last Saturday
evening Mrs. Watters sat up to the table and ate quite a hearty supper and in less than two hours she was dead. Her death was a shock to their many family and friends and the husband and children are almost heartbroken at the loss of a good and noble wife and a kind and loving mother.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church on Monday conducted by Rev. Houston and the remains were laid to rest in the Wildmead Cemetery. Rev. Houston took for his text "A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death is better than the day of ones birth." The singing was especially fine and the floral offerings were beautiful and many.
Miss Indiana Amy Phillips was born in Jackson county, Indiana on November 8, 1858, where she lived with her parents until she grew to womanhood. They afterwards located in Boone County about 1873, where Miss Phillips was married to William Watters on December 7, 1877. To this union nine children were born, all of whom survive the mother with the exception of one child that died in infancy. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended to the grief stricken family in this sad hour of sorrow.
