William Henry Watters was born at Cincinnati, Ohio, Dec. 24, 1857, and died in Hutchinson, Kansas, Feb. 16, 1939.
He was married in Indiana, Dec. 10, 1877, to Miss Indiana Phillips. To this union was born 9 children, 2 sons and 7 daughters. He came to Kansas in early '80's and took a homestead near Sylvia. From there he came to Nickerson about 1890 where he lived until after the death of his wife some 30 years ago.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Clara Neuenschwander and Hetty.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Nickerson Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Manzy in charge. Interment was at the Wildmead Cemetery in Nickerson.
Mr. Watters died at Broadacres Thursday night as the result of accidental burns received when his clothing caught fire from pipe tobacco ashes.
Survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Bertha Neville, Enid, Okla; Mrs. Emil Neuenschwander, Knowles, Okla; Mrs. Flossie Speer, Geneseo; Mrs. Earl Burk, Nickerson and Mrs. Charles Horton, Great Bend; and two sons, Charles Watters, Sterling; and Clarence Watters, Leavenworth.
