Robert Arthur Ballard was born at Waterloo County, Ontario, son of Alfred Ballard and Jane Cunningham. Robert married Elizabeth M. Cornett at Red Deer in 1903, and they later divorced. He remarried to Mrs. Margaret Ellen Vivian (nee Keats) at Toole County, Montana on Dec. 27, 1932.

Funeral service for Robert Arthur Ballard, 79, of No. 5 Western Block, who died Saturday in the Holy Cross hospital, will be held Tuesday in Leyden's funeral home at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Ballard was born in Listowel [sic], Ont., coming to Calgary in 1900. He was employed as a salesman with the Great West Saddlery Co. until 1936.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a step-son, Maynard J. Hickey, Vernon, B.C.; and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel A. Luckhart, Calgary and Mrs. Charlotte Leslie, Drayton, Ont.
