Edward de Cherleton was the 5th Baron Cherleton and 5th and last Earl of Powys. He was the son of Baron John de Cherleton 3rd Baron Cherleton and Joan Stafford Baroness Cherleton and younger brother and heir of John de Cherleton 4th Baron Cherleton. He gained his title and lands on 19 October 1401 after his brother's death.
He married, after June 19, 1399, Alianore Holland, daughter of Thomas Holland, Earl Of Kent, and Alice FitzAlan and widow of Roger Mortimer Earl Of March. After the death of Alianor Holland he married second Elizabeth Berkeley daughter of Sir John Berkeley and Elizabeth Betteshorne. After his death, Elizabeth Berkeley married John de Sutton Baron Dudley.
