Florine Gunnell Johnson, age 86, of Phenix, VA passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 after a long battle with dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Johnson. Florine is survived by a daughter, Camy Shipp and husband, Gene; a son, Roy Lee Johnson and wife, Elizabeth; two granddaughters, Kelly Bell and husband, Josh, and Keeshia Shipp; a great-granddaughter, Teegan Bell; a step-son, Billy Johnson and wife Clara; a sister, Helen Powell and husband, Bobby. The family would like to thank Chase City Nursing and Rehabilitation for their dedication.
funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 in the Midway Baptist Church, Phenix, VA, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Camy Shipp and in the Midway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA is in charge of the arrangements.
