Opal Trones was born in Palisade, Minnesota on July 26, 1909, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ellis. She attended school and grew to womanhood in this area. Later, coming to Alexandria, Minnesota, where she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Haskell.
She was united in marriage to Sig Trones. Mr. and Mrs. Trones lived in Carlos Township for twenty-five years, when they moved to Alexandria, Minnesota in 1959. Opal worked at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home for nineteen years.
She passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria on November 9, 1979 at the age of 70 years. She is survived by her husband, Sig; two daughters: Toby (Mrs. Leonard Bratton) of Alexandria; and Beverly (Mrs. David Hanson) of Moorhead, Minnesota; also surviving are three grandchildren; one sister, Ida Mae Smith and three brothers; John, Leonard and Bob Ellis. She was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian and two brothers, Roy and Art.
Funeral services were held November 12, 1970 at First Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Rev. Philip Westby and Rev. T. Arnold Thompson officiating. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Cliff Johnson, Merle Muyres, Otis Wheeler, Melvin Muyers, Harold Ehlert and Ray Severson. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
