Death of Jerome E. Beck.

Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at his home on South Seventh street occurred the death of Jerome Edwin Beck. The cause was accute cancer and la grippe. The deceased had been ailing for some time and the last few days he had grown worse and the end was sorrowfully looked forward to.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the M.E. church at 2:30 o'clock and the services will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. L.M. Riley. The burial will be in Riverview cemetery. Friends of the family, old soldiers and members of the W.R.C. are invited to attend.

Jerome Edwin Beck was born in Ohio, September 26, 1841 and died January 23, 1911, at the age of 69 years, three months and twenty-two days. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Nolan at Shelbyville, Ills., in 1862. To this union were born 11 children. The wife and mother and eight children survive the father. Besides the immediate relatives numerous friends and acquaintances will sincerely mourn the demise of Mr. Beck. He had lived here about thirty five years and had a large list of warm friends, especially among the old soldier boys. Mr. Beck was an old soldier and held a good record. He enlisted in 1862 in Co. H, 59th Illinois Vol. Infantry and served his country faithfully. In early youth he united with the M.E. church and remained so until the end.

The children will all be here to attend the funeral as follows: Mrs. Ella Woodley, of Denver; Mrs. Lydia Fouts, of Wichita; Mrs. Bert Bowen, of Tulsa; Mrs. Jim Rider, of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Robert Wilson of this city; Mrs. William Reeder, of Winfield; Vivian Beck of Kansas City, Mo., and Frank Beck, of Joplin, Mo.
