Sarah Kitchens Ellison, 87, of Roebuck, SC, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Born March 26, 1919, in Pacolet, SC, daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Mary McCravy Kitchens; granddaughter of John Quincy McCravy and Fredonia Holzclaw McCravy, one of Spartanburg County's oldest families.

Retired from the textile industry and was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church of Woodruff.

Survived by four children, Ronald Barry Ellison, Sr., Mary Ellison Shook, Leonard Hardy "Dan" Ellison, Jr., and Sarah "Betsy" Ellison Parr; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by brothers, John Martin Kitchens (1914–1993) Samuel Thomas Kitchens (1 Jun 1916 – 25 Dec 1986); and sister, Margaret Kitchens (1924–1927).

She dedicated her life to her children and family members and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Visitation was from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2006, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Woodruff, SC.

Memorial service followed at 7:00 PM at the Church with the Rev. Marv Crowe officiating.
