Dean Carlyle Cameron, age 83, Moorhead, MN, died peacefully June 12, 2006, at Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.

Born in Pierpont, SD, son of William and Minnie (Johnson) was born September 24, 1922. He grew up in Pierpont and graduated from Pierpont High School in 1940. In the fall of 1940 he moved to Flint, Michigan, where he worked with his uncle Floyd Tompkins. He returned to his family farm in Pierpont in 1942 and started farming with his father.

On November 23, 1944, he was united in marriage to Opal Irene Sletten, who was his life companion and best friend for 61 years. In 1959 they left the farm and moved to Moorhead. Dean worked for Plunketts Furniture, Stein Paint and Glass, Mautz Paint Company and Stein Chemical Company. He retired from Stein Chemical Company in 1985 due to health problems. Dean enjoyed playing golf, gardening, reading, bowling, baseball and football. He was known to watch one game and listen to two on the radio. He especially loved family and friends. In recent years, he became a great-grandfather and loved these children deeply. They were his rays of sunshine on dark days. He enjoyed the many years he spent at Ridgewood Campground in Detroit Lakes. Dean was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He served on the church council as president and church treasurer.

Dean entered Elim Care Center in February of 2005, where he lived until shortly before his death.

Dean is survived by his wife, Opal, Moorhead; daughters, Penny (Daniel) Daehlin, Plymouth, MN, and Peggy (Don) Goodman, Moorhead; two grandchildren, Erik (Heidi) Daehlin, Eagan, MN, and Allison (Matthew) Coalwell, Monticello, MN; four great- grandchildren, Alissa, Josiah, and Faith Daehlin, and Matthias Coalwell; one brother William; three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

The funeral will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Inurnment will be in Homer Cemetery, Pierpont.
