Mrs. Andersen Dies At 72

SHELLEY, March 19 — Carma Pearl Monson Andersen, 72, Shelley, died Wednesday morning of natural causes in an Idaho Falls hospital. She was been July 20, 1897, in Shelley, the daughter of Peter M. and Helma Winger Monson. She attended schools in Basalt, Preston, and Shelley.
Following High School graduation she attended Ricks Academy in Rexburg. At the age of 15 she began teaching Sunday School, a position she held intermittently for 22 years.
She was married to Christian W. Andersen, June 7, 1917, in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS Church holding various positions of leadership at the Stake and Ward level including president of the Goshen Ward YWMIA, Goshen Ward Relief Society President, 12 years in the Shelley Stake Relief Society Presidency and 15 years on the Stake Relief Society board.
Mrs. Andersen compiled a total of 50 years service in the capacity of a visiting teacher, often driving a horse and sleigh helping in the Shelley, Goshen area. For the past five years Mrs. Andersen and her husband have served at the Idaho Falls temple bureau of information.
She is survived by her widower; four daughters: Mrs. Gilbert (Joey) Fowler, Pocatello; Mrs. Theron (Lillace) Berg, Pocatello; Mrs. Wendell (Laree) Jolley, Firth; Mrs. George (Marjene) Clawson, Twin Falls; one sister, Mrs. Cora Christenten, Salt Lake City, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grand-children.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Shelley 2nd LDS Ward with Bishop Orville Millar officiating. Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Nalder Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
