Calvin H. Coleman, 83, of Downingtown, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Pa.
He was the loving husband of Delores A. Brown Coleman.
He was born Nov. 6, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pa. and was the son of the late Rev. Hiawatha Coleman and the late Dorothy Adonia Coleman.
He had worked as a Corrections Officer for the Chester County Prison, as a Security Officer for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in West Chester, Pa., as a detailer and custodian at Roberts Chevrolet of Downingtown and as a custodian at Walmart, Exton, Pa.
Calvin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from May 10, 1950 - May 11, 1953 earning a Purple Heart, The Korean Service Medal and The United Nations Service Medal.
He was a member of the VFW Post #845 of Downingtown, and was a member of Harvest Worship Center of Downingtown.
Calvin was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and loved playing golf and pool, where he was known as "The Tiger Woods of Pool". He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his step-mother, Marie Coleman; sons, Timothy A. Wilson, Darren Lee Russell and Calvin A. Russell; brothers, Sherman and Nathaniel Coleman of Philadelphia and a sister, Dorothy Thompson of Coatesville; five grandchildren, his loving cat Possum; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Coleman and his brother Ronald Coleman.
