Mrs. Harriett Scarlett, 84, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, March 12 in a health care center in Kansas City, Kansas. A native of St. Joseph, she had lived in the Kansas City area the past 47 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas.

Her husband, Earl Scarlett, preceded her in death in 1967.

Mrs. Scarlett is survived by two daughters, Sandra Grimes, Tonganoxie, Kans., and Sue Miller, Overland Park, Kans.; two sons, William E. Scarlett, Lenexa, Kans; and George P. Scarlett, Campbell, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Frye, Stevensville, Texas; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, in the Simmons Funeral Chapel, Kansas City, Kans. Graveside services and burial were at noon Wednesday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.

The Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home was in charge of the Mound City arrangements.
