Nellie V. Glass Alvey Oliver, 71, of Bowling Green, died at 6:06 a.m. Aug. 19, 2014, at The Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 27, 1942, in Brownsville to the late Rollie H. and Virginia Syble Miller Glass. She was the widow of James Oliver. She was retired from Bando Manufacturing. She was a member of Plano Chapel Holiness Church.
She also was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Louis Lee Britt, Shelby Lynn Alvey, Laura Machell Britt and Jesse Sean Ingram Jr., and brothers and sisters, Jerry Lee Glass, Rosa Marie Bratcher, Barbara Jean Glass and Cliffton Monroe Glass.
She also is survived by her daughters, Roxanna Shain (Johnny), Kimberly Ann Britt , Karen L. Alvey and Barbara Lynn Alvey (Scotty), all of Bowling Green; her sons, Lee Roy Alvey Jr. (Bridgette), also of Bowling Green, and Leonard Lee Henderson (Donna) of Scottsville; her sisters, Lucille Jones (David), Norma Mae Miller (Thomas), Mary Evelyn Claycomb and Patricia Ann Richardson, all of Bowling Green, and Carolyn Sue Glass of Dawson Springs; her brothers, Earnest Ray Glass (Shirley) of Richardsville, Gary Wayne Glass (Linda) of Bowling Green, Ottis Ray Glass of Scottsville and Bobby Joe Glass (Monty) of Riverside; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby & Son, Broadway Avenue chapel. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
