Hervey Blackburn McChesney was born on July 14, 1886, in Princeton, Kentucky to Paulina Jane "Mama Jenny" [Blackburn] and Robert Hise "Papa Hise" McChesney. He was their their 3rd child and son.

He proudly served our country in World War I in 1917 - 1918. On June 4, 1911, Hervey married Leni Leoti McNeely in Caldwell County, Kentucky. From this union they had 10 children -- all sons -- in 21 years. In the 1920s and 1930s, Hervey and Leni owned a farm in Donaldson, Caldwell, Kentucky, and also became a carpenter. In the mid 1930s they moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where he was a building contractor.

He died on August 19, 1969, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his wife Leni who died in 1963 and son Kelsey Harold McChesney, who died in 1956. His survivors were sons James Earl (Doris), Walter Hise (Catherine), Paul Rexford (Syble), Norris Bane (Virginia), Kenneth E (Amy), Damon Boyce (Geneva), Hervey Blackburn Jr. (Amy), Harry Collins (Doris), and Joe Patrick (Laverne), and many grandchildren.
