YONCALLA - A potluck gathering will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Yoncalla Community Center for Lois A. Boan of Yoncalla, who died May 31 of age-related causes at age 90.
She was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Green Forest, Ark., to Onie and Rebecca Asbury Wisdom. She married William "Billy" Boan in Joplin, Mo., on Oct. 21, 1934. He died in 1998. She worked as a cook for Yoncalla schools for 25 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Underwood of Denio, Ore.,, and Sharon Calhoun of Coos Bay; three sons, Jerry of Madras, Charley of Yoncalla and Dennis of Lancaster, Calif.; a brother, Jim Wisdom of Carl Junction, Mo.; a sister, Melba Ebright of Joplin; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Melba Joslyn, died in 2003.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, June 2, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. The private burial will be at Yoncalla Pioneer Cemetery.
