Strohm
John W. Strohm, for many years proprietor and editor of the Valley Times-Star, Newville, died Friday morning at his home after a long illness. He was 72 years old. He was born in Plainfield, the son of George and Eliza Strohm. He founded the Plainfield Times in 1882, and moved the plant to Newville 3 years later, the paper later being consolidated with the Newville Star and Enterprise. He was a musician of ability and several times directed musical events. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Newville.
He is survived by his wife of Newville, and one son, O. C. Strohm, Wildwood Crest, N.J. A sister, Mrs. J. D. Paul, Carlisle, R. 9, and two brothers, Horace L. Strohm, Topeka, Kan., and George Strohm, Correctionville, Iowa, also survive. Funeral services and interment were held at Newville, Sunday.
