MRS. J. C. VAN DEN HEUVEL

Mrs. J. C. Van Den Heuvel, nee Aletta Van Wyk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Van Wyk, was born in Genderen, North Braband, the Netherlands, on October 6, 1867. She was united in marriage with J. C. Van Den Heuvel in the Netherlands in 1894 and together they came to America in 1899 where she has continued to make her home until her death which came on the afternoon of October 15, 1956, just 23 years after the death of her husband. She had reached the age of 89 years and 9 days.

She is survived by six of her children: Jennie, Mrs. Nick Terpstra of New Sharon; Christina, Mrs. Arie Vander Hoek of Prairie City; John Van Den Heuvel of Cedar, Henry Van Den Heuvel of New Sharon and Anna and Henrietta Van Den Heuvel of Pella.

One daughter, Nellie, Mrs. Wm. Clement, preceded her in death as did her husband and one child in infancy. Also surviving are her 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Profession of her faith was made in the Netherlands and at the time of her death she was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Pella. Throughout her entire lifetime she showed a love for her family and friends and shall always be remembered for her devotion to them.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 18, 1956 by the Dr. P. Y. De Jong. Family services at her residence, 610 Independence St., at 1:00 p.m. preceded services at 1:30 at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home. Mrs. Robert Van Ryswyk accompanied Godert Vander Hart as he sang Psalm 68, vs. 10 and "I Know Whom I Have Believed." Serving as pall bearers were: Jerome Van Den Heuvel, Clarence Van Den Heuvel, John Terpstra, Richard Terpstra, William Vander Hoek, and Larken Van Den Heuvel. Burial was made in Graceland Cemetery.
