Virgil Edward Ketterman, age 83, of 575 Roby Road, Maysville, WV passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at Grant Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1931 in Dorcas, WV and was a son of the late George B. Ketterman and Sally Virginia Bell (Parker) Ketterman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant children, one daughter, Brenda Ketterman Campbell; daughter-in-law, Roberta Gail (Davy) Ketterman; one great granddaughter, Olivia Katherine Miller; and three brothers, Cletus Ketterman, Dee Ketterman and Keith Monroe Ketterman; and four sisters, Goldie Whetzel, Fannie Whetzel, Mary Ruth Cullers and Vicki Wilhelm.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Ketterman was a timberman and helped with the construction of the Spring Run Fish Hatchery.
He farmed for almost 50 years and loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of Brake Church of the Brethren, Dorcas, WV.
Virgil is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Sara K. (Ayers) Ketterman, two sons, Virgil Steve Ketterman of Maysville, WV and Gary A. (Denise) Ketterman of Petersburg, WV; three daughters, Betty S. (Bobby E.) Mongold of Dorcas, WV, Sara Jean (Tony) Wimer of Arthur, WV and Phyllis (Clayton) Laub of Petersburg, WV; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive family and friends Wednesday 6-9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Thursday (April 30, 2015) at 1:00 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Craig Howard and Rev. Johnny Goldizen officiating.
Burial will be in the Brake Cemetery at Dorcas, WV.
