Peter Johnson, Sr., passed away at his home near Darling bridge, in La Grand township, June 15. Mr. Johnson had been in failing health the past three years and one May 20, was taken very ill. In spite of all medical aid, he passed away at the age of 75 years and 15 days. the aged gentleman was born in Nieshye, Denmark, May 20, 1849. He came to America in 1871, and first settled in the state of Vermont, then in 1888, he came west and located near Donnelly, this state. For the last twenty-five years, however, he has made his home in Douglas county.
In the year 1891 he was united in marriage with Anna M. Anderson, and of this union eight children were born, of whom six survive, besides four children of a former marriage.
Left to mourn Mr. Johnson's death are the widow and ten children; also a brother, twenty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted from Anderson's chapel last Thursday afternoon, Rev. A. Mattson of the Swedish Lutheran church officiating. Interment was made at Kinkead Cemetery. The pallbearers were Fred Radecop, Peter Anderson, August Rosengren, Christ Jensen, Ole Berg and Emil Nelson.
