Harry Johnson was born on March 28, 1907, in LaGrande Township, Douglas County, Minnesota, the son of Peter and Anna Johnson. He attended school in Alexandria and grew to manhood in the area. He served his country during World War II in France and Germany where he served in helping the wounded. Following his tour of action Harry worked as an electrician in mines on the Iron Range and also in Minneapolis. He also worked as an electrician in Greenland and Guam before his retirement in 1970. Harry was united in marriage to Cecilia Erkens on June 26, 1948, in Alexandria. Harry died October 6, 1982, at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 75 years.
He is survived by sisters Hulda Engstrand of Alexandria and Hilda Hochstaetter of Minneapolis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cecelia, brothers Carl Johnson, Peter Johnson, Albert Johnson, Stephen Johnson and Louis Rosell; sisters Walborg Minor Volkman, Mrs. John (Minnie) Peterson, and Anna Lund.
Mass of Christian Burial was October 9, 1982 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. Arthur Hoppe and Rev. Kerry Harrington officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
