Scheunemann, Betty Jean (Nee Miller ) age 85, died peacefully of natural causes at home surrounded by family on the morning of Friday April 3, 2015. A long-time Chicago resident, Betty was born December 30, 1929 the last of thirteen children of a farm family in Portage, Wisconsin to Alfred and Ora Miller (nee Swearingen) (both formerly of Oelwein, Iowa). Betty earned a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in January, 1953, and a M.A. from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts in November 1955. Betty retired as a Chicago Public Schools teacher after 27 years of teaching primarily elementary and special education students, having taught in Boston as well for a few years. Betty is survived by sons Mark and Carl, and several nieces and nephews. Services and interment are private. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
