"MOUND CITY, MO-Herschel Louis Smith, 74, Mound City, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Smith, born in Bigelow, Mo., on Nov. 2, 1923, was a lifelong resident of Holt County, MO.
He graduated from the Mound City High School, and was a farmer.
On June 25, 1962, he married Elizabeth A. Seehaus in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, William and Selma; four sisters, Erma Hinkle, Dorothy Moss, Ruby Shunkwiler and Miriam Noland; and four brothers, Wayne, Eldon, Jody and Raymond.
Additional survivors: a son, Greg, Platte City, MO; a brother, William, St. Joseph; and five sisters, Mildred Diggs and Mary L. Gallagher, both of Maitland, MO, and Barbara Scarbrough, Wilma Shockley, and Helen Derr, all of Mound City.
Services: 1 p.m. today, Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, Mound City, MO.
Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City."
