"MOUND CITY, Mo.-Erma L. (Smith) Hinkle, 84, Mound City, died Monday, March 28, 1994 at a health-care center.
Mrs. Hinkle had been a teacher for 40 years, retiring from the Mound City School District.
Born in Bigelow, MO, she spent most of her life there, moving to Mound City in 1982. She graduated from the Bigelow high school and received four-year and master's degree from Maryville State Teacher's Colege, Maryville, MO.
Mrs. Hinkle was a member of the Bigelow Christian Church and attended the Firest Christian Church in Mound City. She was a charter member of the Holt County Historical Society and member of the Clio Club, both of which she was a past president, in Mound City, Holt County Retired Teacher's Association; and American Legion Auxiliary at Mound City.
In 1992, she married R. P. Bland Hinkle at Kansas City. He died in 1982.
Mrs. Hinkle also was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Surviving: two brothers, Herschel Smith of Mound City and William K. Smith of St. Joseph; and five sisters, Mildred Diggs and Mary L. Gallagher, both of Maitland, Mo., and Wilma Shockley, Helen Derr, and Barbara Scarbrough, all of Mound City.
Service: 11 a.m. today, Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, Mound City. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.
Visitation: after 8 a.m. today at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation."
