Imogene was born on January 17, 1918 in Galena, Kansas to Charles Henry and Golden Maud (Rupert) Dorris Pinson. After her mother died later that same day, she was adopted by her mother's sister, Hallie and her husband, Giles Overton.

She was raised in Parsons, Kansas where she lived most of her life. Sometime before April 1, 1940 she was married to Roger Dale North. They had two daughters.

Imogene taught music, speech and English. She was a member of many church and community organizations in Salina, Kansas: Trinity Methodist Church, Symphony Guild, Community Theater and Civil Orchestra. She also was active in League of Women Voters, and taught music privately. She was the Director of the Smoky Hill River Gang, a youth singing group in Salina.

Imogene, age 71 years, died on August 10, 1989 at University of Kansas Medical Center from injuries she received as a passenger in an auto accident earlier that morning. She was returning home from a music event.

She was survived by her husband, Roger (Salina); her two daughters, Mary Ann Novak (Ellsworth, Kansas) and Susanne Hobson (Salina); a half-brother, William (Bill) Dorris (Lakewood, Colorado) (#150857250); and 8 grandchildren. Her parents had predeceased her.

Imogene was cremated, and her ashes were scattered. Arrangements were by Ryan Motuary in Salina.

Obituary was published in The Salina Journal Obituary section on August 14, 1989. The accident was reported on the same date on page 7.
