Obituary:
Caleroy "Loy" Chacona, 80, 217 W. 8th St., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at ForestView Nursing Home. She was born in Erie, Nov. 21, 1916, daughter of the late George and Anna Nickles Chacona. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Paul Episcopal; with her family owned Chacona Candies and Restaurant from 1893 until its closing in 1971, and was responsible for the soda fountain in the restaurant; and was a member of the Tsintzina Society in Celeron, N.Y. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Amelia Kokoros, Aphrodite Constant, Agnes Chacona, Tessie Chacona and Esmine Gotsie; and a brother, Hercules Chacona. Survivors include two sisters, Y. Joan "Noolie" Floros and her husband John, and Artemis "Artie" Dodson, both of Erie; two brothers, James Chacona of Sonora, Calif. and Lycurgus "Coogo" Chacona of Atlanta, Ga.; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, 536 W. 10th St., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a service Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Paul Episcopal conducted by the Rev. Kay Johnson. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, 16505.
