Hallie Helene Rupert was born on November 3, 1880 in Dade county, Missouri, the fifth of 16 children born to William Columbus Rupert and Mary Matilda Hanna Rupert. (The date is from her parents' Bible Birth Records page. Her headstone and obituary lists 1882.)

Hallie married three times: Benjamin Vaughan in 1897, John Cowen in 1901 and Giles Overton in 1911. Her last marriage to Giles lasted 54 years until her death. He called her "Cherry" because she was wearing red when he met her. They adopted one child, her deceased sister's baby daughter. Hallie had one son with each of her first two husbands, Ira Leo "Jack" Vaughan and John Rupert Cowen.

Suggested edit: Hallie Helena Overton adopted her sister's (Golden Maud Pinson's) baby daughter (Imogene Averial Overton North) when Golden died during that birth. I am Imogene's granddaughter.

Hallie and her husband lived in various places in Kansas, Oklahoma and Kentucky where he worked as a driller in the oil fields. They retired to Cherryvale, Kansas in the early 1950's.

She died on June 11, 1965 in Cherryvale, and was buried in Oakwoods Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas. Her husband and daughter survived her.
