ANN PHILO KENDALL
Ann Philo Kendall, 87, of Sewalls Point died on Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Martin Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Kendall was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 1, 1915. She was the last surviving daughter of Rabbi I.E. and Ann Cohen Philo. Mrs. Kendall graduated in fine arts from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh and worked as a commercial artist in New York. She produced notable poster art for department stores, businesses, the Grand Central School of Art and the Cotton Club of Harlem. She married Dr. Milton Kendall, a physician, in 1937. Dr. Kendall died in 1985.

During World War II, Mrs. Kendall was a caseworker with the American Red Cross in Youngstown. After the war, she worked for the Easter Seal Society as the Director of Medical Social Work and from 1975-1985 she was the Executive Director of the Hine Memorial Philanthropic Trust in Youngstown.

In recent years she returned to her art. Many of her works grace homes in Stuart.

Mrs. Kendall leaves on son, Rabbi Jonathan P. Kendall of Stuart, two granddaughters, Jessica of Arlington, VA and Rivkah of Arcata, CA, and a nephew, Dr. Philo Wasburn of West Lafayette, IN.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kendall will take place at Temple Beit HaYam, 951 SE Monterey Commons Blvd in Stuart at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 26. Interment will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Temple Beit HaYam.
