Sgt. Arnold Pitman was killed in action December 12, 1950 during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir while honorably serving his country in the US Army's 7th Infantry Division. His body lay at rest in Korea for a number of years until being returned to the United States after his remains were identified.

Sgt. Arnold Pitman will be laid to rest next to his family in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the US Army from Fort Bragg.

Born on March 25, 1928, he was a son of the late Russell T. Pitman and Airalee McKinney Pitman and a brother of the late, Earnest Pitman and Oscar Pitman; sisters, Myrtle Radford, Nell Dickey, Barbara Jean Pitman and Frances Cannon.

Sgt Pitman also has a cenotaph memorial in Honolulu
