Mr. Bobby Jones

Mr. Bobby Jones, age 77, died Wednesday morning at Eagle Health and Rehab. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County retired from Emerson Electric following 25 years of service. Bobby loved gardening, especially planting a field of turnips and mustard every year so that he could share with all of his friends and family.

Bobby was a dedicated member of the Upper Middleground Church where he never missed a service, until being admitted to the nursing home.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen Jones; his parents, Tink and Daisy Jones; a sister, Diane Heath and two brothers, Larry Jones and Tommy Jones.

Surviving are three sisters, Mary Anderson and Nancy Sheffield both of Statesboro and Patsy Pennington of Oxford, Al; three brothers, Billy Jones, Danny Jones and Johnny Jones all of Statesboro; a special friend, Red English and the love of his life, his dog “Babe”. Bobby was also survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Graveside services and burial will be Friday at 11:00am at Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Butler officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Jones, Shane Sheffield, Mark Anderson, Cody Sparks, Stevie Pennington, Davey Guidry and Michael Heath.

Bobby’s family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Purvis and his staff and the staff of Eagle Health and Rehab for their care.

The family will be at the Sheffield residence located at 2396 Nesmith Road, Statesboro.

For those desiring to make a memorial contribution, the family requests they be made to the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Jeru Minick, 2953 Mallard Pond Road, Statesboro, Ga. 30461.
