"WASHINGTON - James William Brandon, 73, of Washington D.C., formerly of Little Rock, died May 21 in a Washington hospice from complications due to a massive stroke he suffered on April 20. He was born July 19, 1932, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
"He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerine Marshall Brandon and James Alexander Brandon; and his brother, Dr. Fred Brandon of Tulsa, Okla. He is survived by two sons, James Alexander Brandon II and wife Susan Roesgen of New Orleans and Philip Dillaha Brandon and wife Diana of Little Rock; and two grandchildren.
"Brandon moved to Little Rock at age 5 and graduated from Little Rock High School. Brandon attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Arkansas where he once served as president of the Xi Chapter of Kappa Sigma.
"He served two terms in the Arkansas House of Representatives and one term in the Arkansas Senate. He was a delegate to the 1969 and 1979 Arkansas Constitutional Conventions.
"He was founder and president of the Brandon Agency, an advertising and public relations agency. In Washington where he has lived for the past 20 years, he has served as chairman and vice-chairman of the local neighborhood advisory commission.
"Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, at Roselawn cemetery officiated by Reverend Jeff Hampton. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com."
