Hugh Arthur Trask was born February 2, 1886 in Girard, Crawford County, Kansas. He was the son of Rueben Deforest Trask and Minerva Melissa Bennett Trask. He was the seventh child of eight. Hugh grew up in Crawford County, Kansas where his father was a successful farmer and cattleman.

Immigration records show that Hugh went to Canada in 1904 and returned to the U.S. in December of 1909. Hugh married Lucy Brown Feb. 25, 1908 in Girard, Kansas. Their first two children were born in Canada. By 1910, the family, including Hugh, Lucy and second child Theodore, are back in Kansas living in Neosho County, Kansas where Hugh is engaged in farming. The third child, Esthyr Lucy, was born in Kansas in 1912. By the time of the Canadian census in 1916, the family had again located to Canada and were living in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Hugh was an elevator agent for the Saskatchewan Pool for many years and was in charge of the Pool at Hartwell and Frenchman Butte. Later, he farmed in the area of Paradise Hill.

Hugh and Lucy Trask had ten children: Beulah (1908-1908); Theodore Howard (1909-1989); Esthyr Lucy (1912-2001); Irene (1914-1998); Nolan Wilder (1916-1985); Ralph Hugh (1918-1979); Lynn Roland (1920-2000); Denmen Clark (1923-1980); Florence (1925-); Cleta (1927-); Lester Leonard (1929-1992).

Hugh Arthur Trask died January 23, 1951 in Harris, Saskatchewan, Canada.
