Services for Elmer E. Hey, 79, formerly of R.R. 5, Shelbyville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Mr. Hey, who had been a patient at the Heritage Manor for several months, died at 6:55 p.m. Saturday at Major Hospital. He had been seriously ill for one week.
Friends may call at the Ewin Mortuary after 4:00 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the services. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Lloyd Werthmann will officiate at the services.
In his early life, Mr. Hey had been a cabinetmaker at the former Albert Furniture Co., here. In later years he was self-employed. He belonged to the Evangelical United Church of Christ and its Golden Link Class.
Born April 17, 1900 in Shelby County, a son of Daniel and Samantha (Shutt) Hey, he was married Sept. 12, 1926 to Nellie Platt, who died in July 1977.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Yanzer, R.R. 5, Shelbyville, Mrs. Ancil (Mildred) Tungate, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Fischer, R.R. 6, Shelbyville; a brother, Cyrenus Hey, Shelbyville; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Beal, R.R. 5, Shelbyville,; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
