Obituary . . . MRS. J. E. FORBES

Mrs. James E. (Grace) Forbes died at the Forbes home, 1218 Main Street, Pella the morning of Thursday, June 7th. She became ill while at work at her desk at the Marshall Canning Company office Wednesday, June 6th, and was taken to her home where it was apparent that her illness was of a grave nature, a cerebral hemorrhage. Her condition worsened until death came.

Grace J. Schnurr, the daughter of Henry and Emma Schnurr was born July 11th, 1893 at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She married James E. Forbes at Hampton, Iowa in April of 1919. She was, for a number of years, employed as secretary and bookkeeper at the Van Houweling Garage and, after the garage was closed was employed by the Marshall Canning Company as bookkeeper.

Surviving are her husband, James E. Forbes, a brother-in-law of Ames, Iowa, an uncle of Chicago, Illinois, two nephews and one niece. She had no immediate family relatives.

She was a member of the Episcopal church of Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9th at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Reverend Thomas Boslooper in charge. Casket bearers were Emery Gaard, J. E. Van Gorp, John A. Vander Wal, Martin Heerema, Ernest Steenhoek and Dr. W. C. Ver Ploeg. Robert Klein sang two selections, 'Does Jesus Care” and "God Will Take Care of You," Mrs. Hospers Kuyper accompanying. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
