EDNA ALICE BURLESON
Edna Alice Burleson, 58, Cottage Grove, died June 22 at a Eugene hospital. She was born Edna Alice Hammersteadt in Illinois Sept. 6, 1891. She was educated in Illinois,and was an apprentice typesetter until moving to Kensel, N. D., in 1910. She married L. J. Burleson at Jamestown, N. C., July 25, 1911, and they moved to Cottage Grove in 1934.
She was a member of Business and Professional Women of Cottage Grove, and was reporter for Royal Neighbors of America. She was a president of BPW, and was active in the Cottage Grove Hospital fund drive, Red Cross,and Community Chest. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her widower; a son, Harold, of Creswell; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Bennett, Orick, Cal.; five grandchildren; her father, H. A. Hammersteadt, and a brother, Walter, both of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Bulingame, Grand Forks, N. D., and Mrs. Lucy Ranney, Cottage Grove.
Services will be at Smith Mortuary Saturday at 3:15 p.m., with the Rev. Frank Brown officiating. Cremation will follow at Eugene Crematorium.
