ORLIE ORMUEL HANDLEY
Orlie Ormuel Handley was born near Fairview, Kansas, September 7, 1880, and passed away August 19, 1963, at the Sabetha Hospital at the age of 82.
He was the second son of twelve children born to Parintha and Zaccariah Handley. He spent his early childhood near Granada. He was united in marriage to Lizzie Longberg January 20, 1905. To this union was born two sons, Ivan and Roy.
He was a retired farmer and spent most of his married life around Sabetha. They moved to their present home at 711 Ohio in September 1951. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1955.
Surviving are his wife Lizzie, of the home, two sons, Ivan Handley of Beattie, Kansas and Roy Handley of Kansas City, Missouri; two sister, Tessie Turner, Boise, Idaho, and Sylvia Layton, Denver, Colorado; one brother, Royal Handley, Lucas, Kansas; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Popkess Chapel, Thursday, August 22, 1963 at 2 P.M. Rev. Stanley Black officiated. Mrs. Stanley Black was the soloist, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. W. R. Popkess and she sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Sometime We'll Understand."
Casket bearers were Neil Bestwick, John Koch, Tony Heptig, Wilber Holdren, Ray Hulsing and Orval White. Burial was in the Sabetha cemetery.
