Brantley Edward Rheim was the third of four children born to Capt. John E. Rheim (1836-1897), a Confederate soldier, and his wife Susan Jane "Jennie" York (1841-1921). His patenral grandparents were Edward Rheim and his wife Mary Brock, and his maternal grandparents were Rev. Brantley York and his second wife Mary Wells Lineberry. Evidently, he was named for both of his grandfathers.

Brantley was probably born in Bunsville, Yancey County, North Carolina, where his parents were living in 1880. In the 1880s, Capt. Rheim was a professor of Mathematics at Randelman high school, and in the 1890s, he became a professor at Weaver College, at Weaverville, near Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

The last record I've found of Brantley so far is that he was a student at Trinity College (now Duke University) in 1894. Trinity had been founded by his maternal grandfather, Rev. Brantley York, in the 1830s.

I will add more information when I am able to find it.
