Funeral services for Laura Novak of Montgomery were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2 at St. John Lutheran church in Montgomery. The Rev. Alfred Koschade officiated and interment was in St. John Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Washa, John Washa, Norbert Hoefs, Jim Hoefs, Carl Lehman and Dennis Berninghaus.
Laura Lehman, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Richter Lehman, was born March 16, 1898 in Montgomery. She attended Montgomery schools. On October 30, 1924 she was united in marriage to Elmer Novak at St. John Lutheran church in Montgomery. Following their marriage they made their home in the Montgomery area. Her husband passed away January 26, 1973. She had been in failing health for the past three months and on April 3 of this year entered Methodist Hospital in Rocherster, where she passed away on Wednesday, April 30 at the age of 82 years.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #79.
She is survived by one son, Francis Novak of rural Le Center; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Tena Washa of Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daugher in infancy; three sisters, Lena Lehman, Edith Alexander and Agusta Thilgen; two brothers, Herman and William Lehman.
