Mrs. C. Lehman Died Suddenly At Montgomery
WAS CONFINED TO HER HOME THE LAST FEW YEARS
Mrs. Charles Lehman, died suddenly at her home in Montgomery, on Saturday, September 25th, at 7:20 A.M. For the last few years she had been unable to move about and had remained at home. She appeared to be in the best of health on Friday evening but on Saturday morning she became ill, a doctor was summoned, and she passed away before help arrived.
Mrs. Lehman was the former Mary Augusta Richter, daughter of the late Christopher and Fredericka Richter. She was born on a farm in Lanesburg township, adjoining the south city limits of New Prague, on May 9th, 1860. When eight years of age, she moved with her parents to a farm two miles west of Montgomery.
On June 20th, 1880, she was married to Charles E. Lehman, of Montgomery. Mr. Lehman engaged in the farm machinery business and in the carpenter trade for a time in that city. In 1905 they purchased a farm in the southern part of Montgomery township, and in 1936 they purchased a home in Montgomery and retired.
Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church at 2:15 Tuesday afternoon, September 28. Pallbearers were Paul and Arthur Becker, William H. Miller, Edward A. Richter, George Lehman, and John C. Richter. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Lee (Edith) Alexander of St. Paul; Mrs. Nick (Augusta) Thilgen, of Shakopee; Mrs. Ernestine Washa, of Montgomery township; and Mrs. Elmer (Laura) Novak, of Lanesburg township; two sons, Herman and William Lehman, of Montgomery; one sister, Mrs. Peter P. Becker, of Montgomery; and one brother, Herman C. Richter, of Montgomery township. Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
