George Franklin Dykes, age 71, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at his residence.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Dykes will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Riverview Cemetery with Bruce Frank officiating.

He was born in Port St. Joe, Florida on July 6, 1943 a son of the late George Charles and Dora Mae Causey Dykes. He was the former owner of Valley Farm Market, retired from Merillat in Mount Jackson, and was the owner of George Dykes Meat Processing. He was a member of Strasburg Moose Lodge 403, was an avid bow hunter and loved to dance. George was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Keller Dykes of Strasburg, VA; his children, Howie Dykes of Strasburg, VA, Teresa Dykes, Kelley Wayne Dykes both of Woodstock, VA, Anthony Dykes of Burkesville, VA, and William Reedy of Toms Brook; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Johnny Dykes, Philip Dykes both of Dothan, AL, Mary Frances Rhames, and Bertha Davis both of Florida.

Pallbearers will be Gene Orndorff, David Barden, Steve Sherman, Russell Woodward, Delmar Vance, Travis Hodson, Justin Sherman, and Brent Neff.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6-8 P.M.

Stover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Strasburg, VA is serving the family of Mr. Dykes.
