_____
Harrison Bailey was the son of James Bailey and Elizabeth Bourne Garrison Bailey, grandson of John "Thumby" Bailey and Nancy Tunnell, and the great-grandson of Revolutionary War Patriot John Bailey and Sarah Tatum Minter. Lineage is documented by multiple DAR certifications including my own (DAR Member 944449). Harrison Bailey, his wife Sarah "Sallie" Nantz, their children, and other historical family information is documented in Notable Southern Families, Volume 3, page 317. Notable Southern Families is a 6 volume set of books detailing the Tunnell and associated families, copyright 1922 by Zella Armstrong on file with LDS, Harvard University Libraries, and the Library of Congress.

Harrison Bailey fought for the Union in the Civil War, along with his brothers Reuben, John, and James Bailey. He was mustered in on 7 Oct 1864 in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky as rank of Private. Assigned to Company "D", 3 Forks Battalion. Part of the 14th Kentucky Calvary. 47th infantry under Shadrach Combs. He was mustered out 20 Jul 1865.

After the war, brothers Reuben, John and Harrison operated a store on Wooten's Creek. Their younger brother Marion Bailey was shot and killed by Harrison Napier following an affair with Marion's wife. (Source, family lore as well as mention of incident in the Rev. John J. Dickey Diaries). Family lore indicates that Reuben, John and Harrison Bailey killed Harrison Napier in revenge, then relocated from Perry to Leslie county.

Harrison Bailey became a traveling preacher. His son Elijah "Lige" Bailey and his nephew James Samuel Bailey (son of Reuben Bailey) were preachers as well. James Samuel Bailey was the pastor of the Flat Lick Baptist Church in Pulaski County,.

Harrison married his cousin, Sarah "Sallie" Nantz, daughter of William Nantz and Nancy Bailey. Harrison's death certificate indicates that he died in Viper Kentucky. A news clipping from the time is said to state that he had been ill and fell from a horse while on his way to see his son.

His burial place is not proven, but family indicates that he was buried in Bailey-Maggard family cemetery with his brother and other family members. The burial place of his wife Sarah "Sallie" Nantz is likewise unknown. Together they had the following children:
John Bailey 1863–1940
Hannah Bailey 1866 m. Abijah "Bige" Campbell
Homer Bailey 1866
Martha Bailey 1873–1951 m. Daniel Bowling
William Childers Bailey 1874–1968
Elijah L "Lige" Bailey 1875–1964
Nancy Bailey 1875 m. Levi "Lee" Garrison
Susan Bailey 1877
Duffield Bailey 1887
Lillie Bailey 1892–1965 m. Bradley Morgan
