Sylvan "Ross" Atkins was born on February 21, 1893 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of Richard Basil Atkins and Mary Ellen (Low/e) Atkins. [NOTE: His Death Certificate has his name as S Ross Atkins, while it's Sylvan Ross Atkins on his 1942 Delayed Birth Record, and it's Sullivan Ross Atkins on his 1917 World War I Draft Registration Card. It is suspected that he was not terribly fond of the name Sylvan.]
A resident of Nashville and single, he died on April 27, 1957 of hypostatic pneumonia at Williams Nursing Home in Nashville. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison.
